YouTube TV review
YouTube TV is a service for watching cable TV online in the YouTube format. You can watch TV series, shows and news not only live but also convenient for you. The service costs $ 50 per month. The package includes six accounts with independent storages, the function of streaming to a TV, and watching content on any device: smartphones, tablets, PCs, and TVs.
As part of the YouTube TV service, users will have access to about 40 channels, real-time broadcasts of such major channels as ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN are organized. Besides, YouTube TV offers its content recording system (DVR) through the cloud service. Thanks to this, the user doesn't need to worry about the availability of free space for viewing. Finally, YouTube TV includes access to YouTube Red so you can watch YouTube videos without ads.
Not everyone knows that YouTube is equipped with an interface adapted for TV. This function is designed to make watching videos more comfortable on TV, and also provides for remote control using a smartphone or tablet. To switch to TV mode, just right-click on the YouTube player window and select "Pop-up" in the list that appears. Within one subscription fee, you can connect up to six user accounts. Each account has personalized content recommendations and access to a separate DVR with unlimited disk space. However, within the framework of one subscription, the ability to simultaneously view only three DVR recording streams is available.
The appeared interface is equipped with an extended playback and navigation control panel to use hotkeys. The user interface itself has become more pleasant and convenient.
To use a smartphone as a remote control, you need an appropriate set-top box (Xbox 360, PS3, a media player with the ability to launch YouTube, etc.), and they should, as expected, be on the same network.
In the TV settings of the YouTube interface, you need to select the "Link device" item, after which a code will appear in front of you. Now, if you have Android, you need to launch the YouTube application, select "Add YouTube TV" in the settings, and enter the code. A universal way through a mobile browser: enter youtube.com/pair in the address bar and type the provided code. You can now control YouTube playback on your TV from your mobile.
